While many cities in Kentucky are noting alarming spikes in STD rates, including chlamydia and gonorrhea, communities within Boone County, including Florence, saw a decrease in these STD rates from 2016 to 2017.
After nearly doubling from 2015 to 2016, newly diagnosed cases of gonorrhea in Boone County declined from 117 new cases in 2016 to 92 new cases in 2017. Unfortunately, the countyโs 2017 gonorrhea statistics are still higher than the 2015 report of 67 new cases of gonorrhea.
