Concerning race and ethnicity demographics about two thirds (63%) of reported chlamydia cases in Cuyahoga County were Black/African American. The rate is 1742 per 100,000. This is five times greater than that observed for Hispanic cases at 331 per 100,000. It is ten times greater than that observed for white/non-Hispanic at 170 per 100,000.
Over half at 58% of all Chlamydia cases were attributed to Cleveland residents. This is based on their residence at the time of diagnosis. A recent report shows that the proportion of cases attributed to Cleveland is getting lower. It was recently the lowest level reported in over twenty years. There is an increasing trend of chlamydia cases reported in Cuyahoga county outside of Cleveland proper.
