Murraysville, NC, a census-designated place in New Hanover County, experienced a fluctuation in the rate of HIV transmission between 2017 and 2019. However, local health officials were pleased to announce a drop in the number of new Syphilis infections reported between 2018 and 2019. In 2018, 50 people tested positive at a rate of 21.5, whereas the following year had 44 new conditions occurring at a rate of 18.8.
Local health departments in New Hanover County have expressed concern over the steady increase in the number of new HIV/STD infections.
