According to the 2010 census, Rancho Cordova had a  population of more than 65,000 people. Since then the population has been increasing at an increasing rate with the current population estimated to be more than 70, 000 people. The increase in population has also triggered an increase in STD infection in the city. The disease was most common among the young African American women within the age of 14 to 29 years. Females accounted for more than 72% of the total Chlamydia cases.
Gonorrhea was the second most prevalent STD in the county. According to the 2011 research, there were 1813 reported cases per 100, 000 people. The county ranked third in terms of Gonorrhea infection in the State. The youth between the ages of 15 to 25 was the most affected by Gonorrhea in the county accounting for more than 55% of the total cases. The black americans were mostly infected with over 435 cases out of the total with a rate of more than 45%.
Syphilis was the third most common STD in Sacramento county. The county has overseen a 260% increase in Syphilis infection since 2010. The STD is most prevalent amongst men of all ages. Men who have sex with other men were most affected. Congenital Syphilis has been on the rise over the last three years with a 30% increase since 2010. The Black African Americans are the most hard hit by the three most prevalent STDs in Sacramento county.
