Although San Joaquin ranked as the 17th County with the highest STD Chlamydia in California, it has experienced a significant increase in the number of STD cases recorded over the past decade. In 2013, 3,382 incidences of Chlamydia were recorded with a rate of 478.9 per 100,000 cases.
Four years later, in 2017, the incidences increased to 3,995 with a rate of 533.3 per 100,000 cases. 66.6 percent of the occurrences were females.
947people were living with the disease in 2013 at a rate of 134.1 per 100,000 cases. In 2017, the number had increased to 1,367 at a rate of 182.5 per 100,000 cases.
381 cases of syphilis were recorded in 2017 with a rate of 50.9 per 100,000 cases. The county ranked 2nd in the state. Lodi is one of the county’s major cities that has played a significant role in the growth of these numbers.
